Any comments on the acoustic problems of 12 sided auditoriums?

depends on where the focal points are.  If you are talking about a basic circle-then that is very often a BAD thing.

Do you have a dome for a roof also-making it doubley bad?  SOme people seem to like that type of thing-NOT ME!

Assuming this space is symmetrically laid out (so it is circular), this is a recipe for acoustic problems that will effect both reinforced and non-reinforced events.

Such a space can be improved with acoustic treatments, but in order to make the treatment really effective there will be a loss of floor area and it will not be inexpensive.

In short: run away !
