Is Playing DVD's covered under CCLI
« on: March 19, 2007, 11:10:05 PM »

My pastor wants to start playing worship dvd's before and after service instead of just music. But can we do that? I'm not familiar with all that CCLI stuff.

We just started considering this also and there is a CVLI that addresses DVD/movies, etc. CCLI can assist you with the details.

Good luck.

To elaborate, the CCLI license does not cover video playback. CCLI offers a seperate license video playback functions, called CVLI. The CCLI web site, http://www.ccli.com,  has different sections for Church Copyright License and Church Video License. The FAQs there are worth reading.

Be sure and check your CCLI and make sure it covers just playing music. Depending which level of CCLI you have it may or may not. If not even just playing CD's is a copyright infringement.
