I did a little more digging and found 4 more of these plates with the same wiring... two in the booth and two on stage.

Still haven't traced the wire, but as far as I can tell it goes to some mystery land because it's not in any existing conduit that I am currently pulling from...

Will update once the source is found!
Amplifier in booth and speakers on stage.
The duplicated wire may be to increase "gauge" and reduce loss.

I agree with Keith's speculation.  I worked for a contractor years ago that installed phone and paging systems.  We commonly used 3 pair CAT 3 (its been a few years) for phones and paralleled the pairs for the 70 volt paging systems so we didn't have to keep different wire around.

I finally dug around a bit and found all the wiring to be connected to each other, so I believe it was indeed an amp in the booth and monitors/mains on stage situation.

This was fun, can't wait until next time!
