The M32 is 50 lbs. Before I fuck with this case, I'll lift the console out of its shipping box.

Even my run down broken ass can move an M32.  I can even set a speaker on a pole.  Woohoo

I've had a flip case on my S6L, it was perfect when I got to a venue with flat push and even floor (such as arenas).
When there were stairs, it was still OK for me as "hands" were carrying it, but I can imagine that as you are going to help your own work as "one-man-show" it will be a real PITA.

Main reason why I don't have a flip case anymore is that I tend to run out of space easily on concert halls with it. Those places are not meant to be used with anything that has "leg of it's own". Usually I ended up to remove the surface from case and place it on table which was not really the idea of flip case...

Are they worth it?

Yes if you go to flat push venues where there is room for a flip case
No in any other situation.

I specced one for an outdoor install, one where the speakers and whatnot can stay up all summer, but the console would have to be set up as needed. It's a big flat concrete area, and a small crew, so it makes some sense there.

For my purposes though, it's a no-go. Sometimes I'm on an incline, or the console needs to be on other cases, or the same table as a lighting desk, or over theater seats, or any number of other situations that would make a flip case totally impractical. Not to mention the extra space they take up in transport, where every inch counts sometimes. I can certainly see why some people like them, just as I'm sure they can see why I don't.

FWIW I have two Midas Pro2 consoles and have been thinking about a flip case for one of them.
But now I'm waiting for a Midas HD96-Air, and that shouldn't need a flip case.
(Anyone in the market for a mint condition Pro6? I have one for sale...)

I love mine, have the one pictured for the M32.  But I also have the "regular" cases for some of the same desks.  We bring the one that suits the gig...

.

You have the prox / ZCase brand?  Or a different one?  I’ve seen some Chinese ones for about half the price and curious about build quality.
