I specced one for an outdoor install, one where the speakers and whatnot can stay up all summer, but the console would have to be set up as needed. It's a big flat concrete area, and a small crew, so it makes some sense there.
For my purposes though, it's a no-go. Sometimes I'm on an incline, or the console needs to be on other cases, or the same table as a lighting desk, or over theater seats, or any number of other situations that would make a flip case totally impractical. Not to mention the extra space they take up in transport, where every inch counts sometimes. I can certainly see why some people like them, just as I'm sure they can see why I don't.
