Since this is going to be run by parent/coach volunteers at most events, trying to get rid of as many variables, as well as make it as user-friendly as possible.

The Saturday morning calls with someone trying to figure out why the audio isn't working and it is because the battery has died is something foreseeable I'm trying to avoid!!   ;D

Patrick Tracy:
If you're running power, don't you already have cables on the floor?

Andrew Broughton:
What kind of audio is being played back? Music from a playlist? Spotify/Apple Music? QLab tracks? Is the playback device the same all the time or are people bringing their own laptops/phones, etc. for playback source? If so, there's a lot more issues that can happen than just the wireless connection between the source and destination!

Knowing why the audio source has to be at the same spot as the playback controls would help narrow down the best solution. Remote controlling a fixed audio source will always be a better solution for unattended systems.

If there were an XLR input in the wall by the scorer's table we'd be in business! But sadly, the AV rack was added after the gym was built and is decently far away.

Now, if there are no decent, affordable wireless solutions it may come to finding a creative way to get some cables over there.

The source is a PC that is sending video via HDMI to a screen built into the scorer's table. Audio will be from several apps on that same PC. Spotify, sound effects QLab type app, video playback, etc.

(Just FYI - This is for middle school sports at a grade school run by different volunteers, so that may help with the level of solution as well as simplicity we are aiming for.)
