Dual Projection feeds
« on: January 17, 2006, 03:23:29 PM »

I am looking for suggestions on which video switcher to purchase.

We are looking at setting-up 2 projectors and 2 screens.  The question is: what video switchers are available to provide two separate feeds (1 for each projector).
The switcher needs to be able to lock and sync s-video, composite and vga sources (as we are using prosumer gear with no sync capabilities).  We are planning on feeding component video to the projectors.

Are there 2ME switchers available for this market that provide such features?

Regards,

We run 3 projectors and screens on an absurdly low budget and we make it work with the use of a Videonics MX3 (you can probably only get MX4's now). As long as you have a permanent install the cheesy plastic case shouldn't be a problem, it has s-video and RCA inuts and mix the sound along with the video (it may be sueful at some point out of the live area). It has chroma key and about 700+ transitions i think.

It also includes a time base corrector for seamless transitions. i have never had a problem with one in a permanent install - when it is being moved around every week, the case seems to get cracked and damaged and with our older MXPro we have actually had to make a seperate panel for outputs coz the ones in the mixer didn't approve of being plugged in and out every week.

but like i said no problem in permanent install and  i've never had a problem with he MX3. it also has 2 RCA outputs and 2 s-video outputs - a total of 4outputs that you CAN use simultaneously. It is also comparitively cheap. You will need to purchase averKeys or a similar VGA - svideo or rca converters - but even these are cheap these days.

Check out the TV One CSC-1600HD Video Scaler. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?A=details&am p;kw=TVCSC1600HD&is=REG&Q=&O=productlist&sku =275340

This unit switches betweeen composite, s-video, component, and VGA. The output is VGA.

The beauty of a unit like this is that it takes the low quality composite and S-video signals and converts them to a higher quality VGA signal. I use an older model, and it works great.

For connecting the two projectors, do your projectors have a VGA output? If so, run the output of the first projector into the input of the second projector.

If you want to scale everything up to VGA and still have to separate output (different things on each screen) a product like TVONES C2-7100 http://www.tvone.com/c2-7000.shtml.
