Just did a 600+ cap show with two Danley TH118 and two Danley SM96.
Rocking @ 90 dB at FOH (around 50 ft), tons of bass.
No sweat on a single 20 a circuit with the Danley DNA amp .  EBP set at 19A.

What are you using for the EDM shows now?

Find some used Touring Subs and Power amps for low-end.

With EDM and 600 people, you won't need much on top end and a pair of DZR315 should be fine.

Sub Suggestion: True Heart Sound has some L'Acoustic SB218 @ $2875/pair; Powersoft K10-DSP @ $2700

No, like I said, I'm usually limited to the circuits I can plug into: 2 (MAYBE 3) 20 amp circuits. Monitors, mixers, etc. I have already.

So rocking means loud?  Well, it was bluesing then, an excellent band. It was louder by the stage and everyone was enjoying the show.  The on stage volume was probably 115+.
The system was cruizing and there was plenty more available if needed.

Four JTR Captivator 218 subs = $10,500 plus tax & shipping
Two used Crown I-Tech 6000 amps = ~$3,200 on the used market. Note - out of support from Crown
If you have system DSP then two used Crown MA-5000i amps would be a perfect match for the JTR subs

Both of those amps match up with JTR's 2,400 watt recommendation for the Captivator 218 and would leave you ample "headroom" on your two 20s.

Apologies in advance for the topic swerve, but the "2400 watt recommendation" for the Captivator 218 is only there because that is what the self-powered amplifier provides. The box is rated at 3200 watts RMS, but if JTR posted that on their website it would make it look like the self-powered option is underpowered, which it is in my opinion.

I'm curious, what makes folks say that?  The clip light flashing?  The "limit" light flashing or staying on?  CAN YOU HEAR THAT LIGHT FLASHING?

My main experience is with JBL. 
SRX728 & IT8000 slammed!
SRX828SP: no where near the SRX728 performance and it sits in Limiters when you try and keep up with the mains.  I was running SRX812P/SRX828SP or SRX835P/2x SRX828SP.
SRX828S & IT4x3500 - hits much harder than the SRX828SP.

I recently demo'd a bunch of powered subs and made the move back to passive.  I'm fine with powered mains/wedges, but couldn't find a powered sub the was great, without breaking the bank.

So can you translate that into measurements we can look at or attempt to reproduce?

I think the difference between the 728 and 828 is more than the amount of output power available from the amp. 

I also noticed that some "limit" lights come on before measurable limiting is occurring.  That's why I'm asking, as I've observed this in other products.
