Not sure what powered VRX boxes run these days, but fwiw: I do 800 cap shows with touring DJs on a system w/ 6x VRX918 and 6x 932. The subs are a cardioid stack with two cancellation subs. I can hit 117 dBc halfway down the dancefloor (this is outside too).

The riders I get usually request much bigger/more expensive systems (L'acoustics, D&B etc) but I've never had anyone refuse to play because our system is inadequate. I hosted Hardwell a couple weekends ago.

Many artists also care moee about their monitor rig than the PA itself - plan to budget for that. We use an SRX815 (powered) over a single or pair of QSC181 subs. Many riders request the Texas Headphones style monitor setup, but again I've never had anyone complain about lack of spl.

Lastly, the whole thing cam run om 2x 20A circuits, although I prefer to have a 3rd circuit for everything in the booth. I split the VRX across a pair of 20A circuits and have a 3rd for the monitor rig + DJ backline.

I also noticed that some "limit" lights come on before measurable limiting is occurring.  That's why I'm asking, as I've observed this in other products.

I've long suspected the VRX limiters behave the same way.
