Sub Amps - 4000-4500w @ 4ohms per channel.

(1/2) > >>

Matt Vivlamore:
What are some good amps to drive subs?  I'm looking for 4000-4500w @ 4ohms per channel.

Years ago I was bridging an XTi4000 into a SRX728, it was alright and then switched to an IT8000 and it was a night and day difference; holy cow did the SRX728s move some air.  Well then I took a few years off (and sold everything) and when I got back into it, I picked up the SRX828SP (FAIL!).  Now I picked up some Custom built dual 18s with B&C drivers and looking for a beefy sounding amp.  Right now, I have a Clair iO with Gruppen FP9000 to hold me over until I can get a bigger amp.

Brian Jojade:
The Crown iTech HD amps are solid performers. Prices are currently through the roof though on them.  About double what they were just a couple years ago on the used market.

The Studiomaster QX2-xxxx amps output big power, and are inexpensive.

Linea amps work great on subs, the new Danley D series amps should be great on subs as well.  The new Powersoft line is worth a good look, but they are new and I don't know how many have bench tested them yet.   Used Powersoft K20 or X4L.

Regardless of brand, I'd run them on 208V (240V) power, otherwise you won't get max output.

Helge A Bentsen:
Used K10/K20 or FP14000 should do it.
I got K20 on some DIY 2x18", they're pretty impressive with that amp.
Also serviced a couple of KF730 installations with FP14000 for lows with good results.

Dynacord IPX20:4 or TGX20.   They are my go to for all high end stadium and arena projects.
