Martin Audio Blackline XP118 adjustable crossover?
Douglas R. Allen:
I've been looking at the Martin Audio Blackline XP118 sub. Trying to find out if it has an adjustable crossover in it. I see it has presets for the 15- and 12-inch tops in the Blackline series, but I can't find any information as to exactly what is changed when selecting those or if there is an independent crossover that can be used.
Anyone using this sub and your thoughts on it? Is there a adjustable crossover?
Thanks for any input.
Doug

Sorry, no help, the user guide says crossover 80-100Hz active (no explanation how to adjust), the datasheet says 100Hz, active.

That is what makes it hard to determine if it will do what I need. I've seen those as well and also the crossover is 80/120hz. Not very clear on the spec's.
I do know the 131dB continuous / 137dB peak is the output area I'm looking for and the price is right but so few reviews and unknown spec's again make it a hard choice.
Thanks;

The Spec sheet is not the user manual.
The user manual is here; https://martin-audio.com/downloads/userguides/BlacklineX-Powered-User-Guide.pdf
The system uses presets for integration with various other Mart Audio Blackline XP speakers.
The preset chosen on the Main Speakers sets the High Pass on the main speakers, the preset chosen on the Subwoofer sets the Low Pass on the sub.

I read that Users Guide before making this post and that is all well and good if a person is using the BlackLine tops. I will not be using them. What exactly do the "Presets" do on the sub as far as how it effects the crossover frequency was what I was hoping to find. The preset list in the User's Guide, which is very vague to begin with, then not saying what these presets do, is pretty much worthless information. Even in the User's Guide the tops are covered somewhat but very little information to none if I remember right is given about the sub settings. Most self-powered subwoofers have a manual that states a constant variable crossover from 80-150 hz or a selector for 80,100,120 or even a fixed crossover point of 100hz etc. If the Sub manual says setting the Preset for the 15-inch BlackLine top has the sub run up to 80hz and setting it to the 12-inch BlackLine top sets the sub to 100hz etc. would give a person something to work with.
I guess Martin Audio doesn't plan on selling this sub to people who are not using their tops? I could order one, fire up my Smaart system and give them a look and see if they will do what I need. If they don't have the right crossover settings in them send it back but I don't see that as very fair to whoever I purchase it from. I was hoping someone here had a set and had an idea as to what the presets did or if when a person scrolled through the menu on the sub it showed different crossover frequencies available. It seems so far that not a lot of people are using these. In all fairness a person shouldn't have to jump through hoops to get what is very basic information. It is a shame as it checks so many boxes for me. On to the next, I guess.
