Midas DL16 question
« on: March 16, 2023, 10:45:45 PM »

I'm getting ready to rack up two DL16's in a single 4 space rack. While the ethernet jumper between the two units (probably a 1' cable) will definitely be shielded, should it have Ethercon shells? I don't anticipate it getting unpatched very often, if at all, but is there some sort of necessary grounding/bonding that the shells will provide, or am I okay with just the shielded cable?

Yes, Shielded Twisted Pair, CAT5e with Ethercons and DC continuity between the Ethercon shells.

Yes!
I have 2 DL16s and use shielded cat5 with ethercon.
I had them in a 4sp rack for a while but found that it wasn't very good for the mic cables to be that close to the floor. They are now in an 8sp rack with a Furman unit. The empty 3 spaces at the bottom get the mic cables up off the floor and give me some room to stow several different lengths of shielded cat5 with ethercon to connect back to my M32C.

I would also suggest a taller rack, to provide a bit of breathing room for the DL16's. I prefer to have 1u of open space between my 1u UPS and my stage boxes. YMMV.
