F'n deaf?  Working a dance competition, there seems to be a school of thought that making the music louder will gift rhythm to those who are sorely lacking in that necessary commodity.

Jeff Lelko:
Maybe they think that if you turn up the sound loud enough to cause blurred vision then the crowd won’t be able to see their lack of coordination?

Kinda like bands Tim, where the loudest must be the best - everybody wants to be louder than the preceding act to make a statement.

We have one coming back at the end of the month that does rock band levels on my PA and has a full blown light show, moving lights, colours etc, with tons of haze.

Lucky for me, the inhouse AV handles those. I just setup the PA. They can't seem to wrap their heads around how to wire it and set the processor.

My favorites are always the Ballet where the artistic director wants me to raise the volume of the orchestra so that he can't hear the foot falls of the dancers on the stage. Yeah, he want's the music loud enough to cover up the foot steps of 40 dancers on stage all dancing in unison on a raised dance floor.   :-\
