Senny wireless repair FYI
« on: January 19, 2023, 03:08:45 PM »

I just had my MC wireless mic repaired;  Sennheiser EW300 with an 845 capsule and mute button.
The problem was the mute got 'stuck' on and wouldn't pass signal.  After exhausting the dissasemble and look for problems method, and trying different settings I sent it in for repair.
A month or so later, it arrived back with an extra capsule and no indication as to what was wrong.  It turned out the capsule was bad, and caused the mute button to act as if it wasn't functional.  So, if you have that problem, try a different capsule first.

I believe those mics will mute if the capsule is loose, so it could have been a contact issue, maybe? Thanks for posting, BTW!

I don't think they would have sent a new capsule if it was just loose.

Me neither! I just meant that maybe there was a contact issue inside the capsule that might have been causing it. IOW, whatever contact it's looking for when the capsule is firmly in place had gone bad somewhere else.

IIRC, the EW handhelds will also mute if the battery door is unscrewed (one of those "I think there might be a practical use for this information, but it feels dangerous" kind of things).

Confirmed, they mute within a small fraction of one full turn.
