Sub amp recommendations

(1/4) > >>

John Woodfield:
I have two Community SBS25's rated at 1200w continuous 3000w program 4 ohms impedance recommended 2400w amplifier at 4ohms.

So if I go with the recommendations, I would need 2400w per side at 4 ohms unless I run parralell and drop to 2 ohms but I'm thinking that would cook the amp.

Thoughts on best bang for the buck in terms of amp's to consider? I am open to EOL boxes. The only thing I can seem to find that comes close (unless we are talking low of the low like Behringer) is a Crown I-T6000 which I can pick up on eBay for around $1500.

I would go with the Itech....
I use three original series Itech6000's and one Itech8000 (all with the ribbon-cable upgrade...done way-back-when under warranty) on subs and they sometimes don't even get warm when in use.
With the above amps I am able to adjust the power output to exactly what I need.

I also have an Itech5000HD (purchased as B stock/factory refurb) that I bring along as a spare.....

I have a Peavey IPR2-7500 that's still hanging in there after 10 years of service - anywhere between 2 and 5 nights per week (with the exception of lockdown year). No problems ever. Back then you could get them for around $800. I'm sure they're more now.

I would suggest looking at Dynacord.  They have some amps that are a great value with pretty amazing DSP.  You can get a new L2800fd for less than the price of a used I-Tech 6000 right now.
