When you say "new", do you mean "newly from the manufacturer", "new old stock", or "new to him"?

New-In-Box from RCF.

Moderately off-topic-

Had a colleague who reloaded 8 tired EAW SB850F (Flying) subs with new RCF L18p300's. Same model as originally loaded......except somewhere in late 1990's RCF had introduced an entirely new speaker named L18p300. They were completely incompatible with the box: unloading and popping, etc.

This is something I have never heard of. At one point I handled maintenance on a fair number of subs from different manufacturers that used RCF L18P300s (both the RCF and private label versions) but did not encounter this problem.

This seemed hard to believe when I first read it, but I think I may be struggling with the same issue.

And it occurred to me, if there's more than one driver with that serial number, wouldn't that mean that you could wind up with the wrong Recone kit for your drivers too?

I was posting about this originally because I wasn't getting the output I was expecting from my SB 180s. I had purchased the boxes with blown drivers and had them reconed at a reputable shop.  One of them blew after just a few gigs, and another one is making a popping sound faster than the other drivers in the set.

I just bought four brand new Eighteen Sound 18LW1400's, which came in the SB 180Z. Hopefully that's going to put this to rest.
