Sad news. My only interaction with Doug is that the Pure Groove people rented mine and Robert Piascik's SM 80s once for an event in FL, they banged Robert's set up a little bit, and Doug (who was a middleman in the transaction) saw to it that Robert's stuff got repaired. The way things should be.

Ron,
Thanks for posting to let folks here know.
I have been out of town on a job and just saw this.

Doug was a great guy and always willing to help out and answer questions or point someone in the right direction to get the help or the answers needed.

I learned a lot from him about system tuning.
Hired him to provide 3rd party measurements for some system work.

He will be greatly missed.

I won't be able to make it to his service as I have to go in for surgery the Monday before.
Sure wish I could be there to pay my respects.

RIP, Doug.

It's been a few days since I heard the news of Doug's passing, and I feel like i really should respond, but words escape me.

RIP Doug. and thanks for everything.

Wow.

I'll share my one Doug story.

I attended the SynAudCon Designer's Class years ago.  As I walked into the room, not expecting to see anyone I knew, I heard someone call out my name.  I walked over, Doug introduced himself, and had recognized my name from the attendee's list.  We sat together, talked, had lunch together, and chatted together while touring a huge church install, over those few days.  I was blown away how down to earth, knowledgeable, and caring he was toward a total nobody like me.

RIP Doug

Just looking over Doug’s last few posts shows how much we’ve lost.

Oh no...

Was offline working events until now. Never had the honor of meeting Doug, but he helped more people (myself included) that he probably ever realized.

RIP, Doug Fowler

This is so sad! Doug helped me on several questions I had. And I'm not even that active a member of the community. I can only imagine how many people this kindhearted soul touched over the course of his life. My heart goes out to those closest to him.

I’m stunned.  I just found out.  Doug was a great human. The forum and PSW wouldn’t be what they are today or have had the impact it has without Doug.  He was the first to post on the live-audio mailing list and the first one I told when it moved to a forum format.  His imprint is everywhere on the forum.

His life was much more than any forum or web site.  He was full of a truly generous and loving spirit.  He made a positive impact on the lives of many people.  For that he’ll be remembered and missed.
