Most riders I see want SM 58 where this mic is required.

I did a bunch of National acts this year. Riders were like L'Acoustics, DiGiCo and SM58. I honestly don't get it but I have two SM58's in my workbox if someone insists.

SM58 for wireless are hanging out with my Lectrosonics stuff because some people don't like DPA and KSM8, apparently.

If you can't make an SM58 work, you've got bigger problems. :)

I can use a Harbor Freight screwdriver just fine in a pinch, but I own Klein.

True, and the Klein feels like a quality tool.

Every time this thread pops up and I see small "rider friendly" I wonder just what rider he is filling.  Small acts get what they get usually,  I have never heard of a bar or small club level rider.

I had a bar/club rider years decades ago.   Prominent were things like "all your snake channels need to be free of hums, crackles, and yes, we really need 18 inputs."

In small venues these days I see "boutique" riders:  Ear Trumpet mics, some Very Expensive Analog Mixer (and only 8 or 12 channels), etc. or I see almost none.  Artists that care have a stage plot and input list; the artists that care more include notes about what they bring and what they need the house/promoter to provide.  That's about as good as it gets.  But there is a guy somewhere in my region that can fill much of the "Boutique" needs because I sometimes hear "we played at XYZ and they got it for us."  Aside from wanting to know who's got it, my thoughts are if a device or instrument is critical to the show, bring it with you.

I'm near Palm Springs CA and get some big names doing small shows, especially around Coachella time with all the corpy retreats and brand activations. I have access to a couple Syva rigs that keep everyone happy.

I've also heard things such as "an X32 will be fine, if that's what you've got." and "The Ui24 sounds really nice, but can you please bring us something with faders." I own a QL1 now.

I've a suspicion the QL1 will pay for itself many many times over

Definitely falls into the "wish I'd got one sooner" category, but now was the right time financially and I probably appreciate it more after using X32 for several years.
