Apple and Google cleaning out their App Stores

So the Tribe hasn't touched their X/M series apps for a while, wonder what their response will be? Pretty sure A&H, Yamaha, Mackie, Presonus, Soundcraft will be affected. Probably left out some other brands too...

I doubt the devlopers need to add functionality.  Probably update the splash screen is enough.  Been a while since I was an active ios developer  threshold for maintenance used to be pretty low.

It's a silly thing to do if the apps are still functional.  An arbitrary requirement to be sure.

But, in this day and age, building apps that stand the test of time isn't good enough.  Change for the sake of change is what Apple wants.

Sad when there isn't really anything 'better' about new versions in so many cases.

Depends on the app.  New submissions of updates need to be done with the latest version of Xcode.  This may break existing apps which then have to be fixed - assuming there’s still someone around who knows how.  If you’re using additional toolchains/frameworks/engines etc then those often have to be updated as well resulting in more break/fix work.  I hear it’s especially hard on small game devs using things like unity.  Suffice to say from all that I’ve read on Hacker News (written by people way more familiar with the issues than I) updating an app can be very non-trivial.

Mixing Station covers a lot of that ground and is constantly updated.

Mixing station is nice, but i still prefer the native app on my iPad by a fairly wide margin.

Yeah Mixing Station is great when you really want to get in the weeds with a custom UI. But for a one off or throw and go, the stock app is hard to beat for user freindliness.

Both have their place and it would be a shame to lose either one. I also keep several versions of the X32/M32 app on my devices in case I run into an older board that hasn't been updated in a while.

I guess you don't have a Soundcraft.

I like it for the opposite. Every mixer I use has the exact same interface on my tablet.
