SVideo transmits 480p at best. It's an analog standard, I don't think there's a way to do that via SVideo.

If under 200-250ft, you could get away with HDBaseT. Run some shielded CAT6A. I've never seen HDBaseT work reliably past 250ft.

I was looking for active extenders that would use existing S Video cable as just a cable for transport and not using the analog S video format.

I'm not sure that is possible. Can anyone else chime in?

I think that would be like saying to use the VGA in the wall as an HDMI cable instead of VGA. SVideo and VGA both are anolog standards, so I assume that using them to try to transmit HDMI, a digital standard is not possible.

Also, how long is your run? HDMI isn't good at going the distance. After 30-40ft, it doesn't work unless you have specialized cables and transceivers. Especially with such a degraded standard such as Svideo, I doubt it would work even if it were possible.

The run is 100 foot plus.

Didn't know if a creative company had active HDMI extenders that would use existing S video
cable a means of transport in some digital or format.

May just put in RG6 and use SDI.

Yeah I don't think it would work. Yeah, if you can swing SDI, that's a far better option.

I'm interested to see if anyone chimes in with some obscure product though!

Component cable like that used for S-video is sort of nominally 75Ohm, but plenty isn't and is just 'cable' - the problem is that HDMI cables need more cores - so your option is to convert TO S-video, and use the installed cable and convert the other end back to HDMI. This means you lose HD, going back to the resolution limit. You also get two extra delays in the process so the video would be out of sync too.

Just wondering if there is such a thing.

There is such a thing.  It’s any wire technology.  I’ve never actually tried them but I’ve seen them advertised from various mfgrs.  I believe DSL technology is used so there’s a latency impact.  I once saw a video that used an electric fence install (power off) to transmit video.

Here’s one example I found:
