It was -9F and windy yesterday but supposed to get up to 29F here in sunny Iowa today.

When it is below zero you learn to dress warm and to not dawdle when outdoors.

-31F is painful!

I learned years ago to not whine about how cold it is in the deep south, but it is all relative and the older I get the less well I tolerate cold weather.

The coldest I ever recall was walking guard duty, around empty buildings at Ft Riley KS in the 70s. It was almost too cold to take my gloves off so I could drink from the pint of brandy in my pocket.

On an "island" in the south of Britain it's not been too bad, high single digit °C we've had some nice sun the past few days, just nice for a stroll by the sea/quay (going by the Quay is also the way to the local supermarket, which is quite nice). A few stormy days despite being in the south, it does get mighty windy down here.
Bit different to last year when a family situation meant I was in the South Somerset countryside all winter and actually got to experience some snow!

It's been sub-zero here, -15 F tomorrow night.  It's cold, but not Canadian level cold; I'm currently up in Maine, USA, but not near the coast.   It's not cold enough to bundle up past the typical jacket and gloves, but you also don't want to stand around outside after the sun has set for too long.

We seem to be having colder weather earlier this year. No snow (midway between Cleveland and Toledo) to speak of.

My daughter lives about 1 1/2 hours east and she had 14 inches of snow when we had 3. She lives in the tail end of the "Snow Belt".

Upper 40's F.  Sunny, a little overcast working it's way in.  I have Wy'east (aka Mt Hood) visible to the summit from home today.  Ah, the Great North Wet.  A slight respite ;-)
