I am not aware of any Dante-compatible scheme that is not either DVS or an Audinate piece of hardware.

Q-sys is doing software based Dante on the 110f and 510i (and other cores now too)

Unfortunately it seems people also have way more stability related problems (based on what I see in the FB programming group) with the software Dante solutions in Q-Sys than the hardware ones.  It’s impossible to extrapolate to the whole ecosystem off this small slice but at the same time it is a notable difference to me.

We have a handful of systems in stadiums and arenas, deployed this past summer, running fine and without issue. I have seen the reports from others though, and specify the Dante card solution for higher profile applications (There is a cost difference between the license and the card, but I would say its negligible).

I've had/seen the same experience with DVS vs BrooklynII.

Just reinforces my belief that Hardware > Software

For some reason I remember assuming LM26s were rolling their own in software.  I think it had something to do with not being able to access any of the usual settings through Dante controller, you had to use the Lake software to name ins and outs, set sample rates and name the unit, update software... all stuff you could do through controller with Audinate based gear. Also, they are 4x8, it seems most of the Audinate chips are symmetrical.  That was a few years ago, so maybe things have changed, maybe im remembering it wrong.  lol.

IIRC, there is another USB Dante solution from RME with 64x64 support @ 48khz. Wonder how the two compare, but one advantage of the Yamaha solution is the bypass button and as far as I know it RME doesn't have it. Wonder why there are no USB solution that support 48x48@96Khz for Dante since ASIO doesn't support multiple devices most of the time.

Price updated here in Austria.

A little more than the RME Digiface Dante. Expensive
