On August 25, 2002 - Jazz great Joey DeFrancesco, 51

https://www.npr.org/2022/08/26/1119560655/joey-defrancesco-driving-force-on-the-hammond-organ-dies-at-51

He was only 51!

He played at a small 80 seat venue a half hour from me about 10 years ago. I so badly wanted to see him but I had a show that night and couldn't get away.

HRM Queen Elizabeth II
Not the kind of celebrity we're used to dealing with, but a VERY impressive woman.
I have no great attachment to the monarchy, but you can't help but respect her 70 YEARS doing "her job"
Rest in peace, again beside your Prince.
Chris.

In our household in the UK as in most others, everything would stop for the Queen's speech on Christmas day - fond memories....

Jazz great Ramsey Lewis passed away.

I mixed monitors for a bunch of the BET Jazz tapings back in the 90s that Ramsey Lewis hosted. He was a pleasure to work with and an absolutely DAZZLING musician.

Thanks for the great memories Mr. Lewis. RIP

I'm so old, when I was doing FOH for Tommy Dorsey, to balance out the horn section I would slide their chairs downstage and upstage to mix!

You are missed, Doug.
