How do one calibrate these things? At that price point I really want one, even though I don't need one. The air over here is not very crowded, but.. it's a gadget.

They're neat, but if you have a Mac or PC, you can have a dongle for less than 30 quid and free software to do the same things - very useful for spotting band occupancy. The only real snags with these things are the susceptibility to pick up stray fields from the internal circuitry which shows spikes at mathematically related frequencies that aren't there - but you can easily spot a radio mic signal from the shape.
