Midas Drops 10 year Warranty on M32 line and stage boxes?
« on: November 23, 2021, 07:15:54 PM »

I was looking around at different Midas M32 products and noticed a 3 year warranty instead of the 10 year that they have had from 2017 or so. Have they dropped the 10 year warranty already? One reason to go with a M32 instead of a X32 is the 10 year warranty. Is that gone? How about all of us who have registered our products for the 10 year warranty? Do we still have it? Or is this a misprint?

Replying to my own message. What I'm hearing on Facebook is " As of October 2021 anything purchased has a 1 year warranty and if registered within 90 days extends to 3 years. Anything purchased between 9/1/2014 and October 2021 still Carries it’s 10 year warranty."
So it looks like the 10 year warranty is gone for those who purchased after October 2021.

M wing?, though as that already uses PRO series analogue I/O there wouldn't be much to upgrade.

Could be. The X/M line is getting old.

Quite, and the X32 is bit of a different beast to what it was when it was first released, hence why it's not really become out of date yet.

Sounds to me like they're just worried about their bottom line.

Agreed. But, the 10 year warranty was a great incentive and tipped the scales in a lot of purchasing decisions.

We'll have to see what happens *when* supply comes back to meet (and, perhaps, surpass) demand.

an extended warranty is more of a marketing hook than real value driver. A 10 year warranty suggests the company expects to be around for 10 years  ::), there are lots of orphan products with lifetime warranties from companies that didn't have much of a lifetime.

Back last century while at Peavey we did a sharp pencil review before extending our warranty...(iirc from 3 year to 5 year. Peavey doesn't like to leave money on the table).  If anything I found that if a SKU is going to break it will probably happen within the first few months of use.

I don't know or care what may have influenced this recent change, perhaps a competitive shift in the markplace, or maybe a liability issue with distribution. You can't just change your mind about truckloads of 10 year warranty obligations out in the field, or maybe you can.  ;D

They made significant changes to the dealer network recently - a lot of smaller (ie not Sweetwater or Amazon) dealers aren't dealers anymore, for instance.

I'm waiting on a M/X32 V2... hopefully with a slightly larger screen and touch function.  Maybe at Musikmesse 2022 we'll see something.

Owww, speculation time?  The natural progression would be EOL for the X32/M32 and expanding the Wing options.  Since the Wing was introduced it's struck me as a "trial balloon" product because it doesn't fit anywhere and came out of nowhere (live, from Uli's ultra-secret pro 2000 lab)... but the product is intriguing in several respects.  Having gotten a look at the Midas HD96, I can see a little influence on the Wing but get the feeling the UI (and likely the mixing code underneath) were largely conceptualized and created by different project teams.

Or announce the expanded Wing family with "premium" prices and consolidate the X/M32 to 3 or 4 models, total, with ports for external video screen, keyboard and mouse... A mixerperson can dream, right?

Looking forward to the HD96 Air version seeing the light of day...

Would really also love to see a wing rack,  similar to the x32 rack concept but with the horsepower of the full size wing.

Rack mount wing like the m32r would be slick to .....

We can dream can't we!

I would assume the Wing was designed by the same people in Germany that designed the X32, though given that the analogue I/O is taken from the pro series/M32 there is some UK influence, the HD-96/Heritage-D would have been designed by the Midas team in Manchester (Here to be more exact!, https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.4640434,-2.2773019,3a,50.4y,288.87h,92.42t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sKZNv6olCnuyivT0DtyGFgg!2e0!7i16384!8i8192).
