If you don’t see the one you like, tell me.  What do you like about it?

It's interesting to see SM58 and Beta58 on the same line of the poll. The former is my second or third choice for just about anyone, the latter I try to avoid (with a few exceptions).

But as Tim mentions it really depends on the singer (and, I'd add, on the nature of the music being performed). I think my only generally-applicable rule of thumb is that I prefer cardioid vocal mics to more directional ones.

favorite vocal mic is the Sennheiser e935.

However, due to availability, my mic locker has nothing but SM58 and Beta58a in it.

Agreed.  I bought a few Beta 58 mics thinking they would be better. Rarely is that the case, and they sit idle most of the time, in favor of the SM58s.

SM58's are generally my 'starting point' mics.  I know them well enough that I can make them work in just about any situation.  If I have time to experiment, then I'll pull out others, but reality is, in my line, there's rarely time for such experimentation.

Shure KSM -9 - great for male jazz vocals as long as loud monitors aren't required

Neumann KMS105 - often specced for or carried by female jazz and folk vocalists although Tony Bennett was the first act I worked with that carried a pair ( main and spare ). Again loud monitors need not apply

Sennheiser e945 is my first choice.    Sounds very detailed and has a ton of gain before feedback.

I carry half a dozen each of sm58's and B58's in case someone prefers them and I quite like the B57 as well.

Depends on vocalist, and if all are on IEMs.

E935
KMS105
VX10
E965

Would like to try the d:Facto, but it's a bit pricey.

Would also have SM86 and B87A, even though I haven't used them quite as much.

Reasons?  They all sound better, to me, than all the cheap dynamic options (SM58, SM48, 767a, B58, E8xx, ATM-xxx, PR22, PR35, etc).

Yep, SM58 and Beta58 are at entirely different positions on my list.
