1975?  SCR dimmers definitely existed, and there were a lot of them around especially in venues.

At home we had CRT televisions with all that 15kHz high voltage stuff going on.

I have a funny story about big ass SCR's.  We had a 15kva Lorain Power full time UPS back in the early 80's and the paging company I worked at.  It used two SCR's to chop up the DC and then smoothed it out.  They made the most god awful load buzz you have ever heard so the device was located out in the service bay.

One day one of our techs who was a rabid ham radio operator was talking on his radio, a VHF low band so probably about 42mhz and it was at least a 200w radio.  As soon as he keyed the mic this giant fireball came out of the top of the UPS as both SCR's had enough voltage inducted into them to turn them on and poof big short.

From the entreq website description
"A solid, silent, dark background gives 4 D sound as we never reached before"
Sounds like my last reaction with way too spicy chili :\

Those work great in combination with thr "Range Processor". The roar of the crowd will be sucked out.

Well if they sucked out the roar of the greasepaint AND the smell of the crowd I might consider it.
