+50dBu

andy craig:
I received a tender document which calls for the supply of DI units which can handle an input signal of +50dBu.
I can't imagine a situation where you would ever want to deliver mains voltage to a DI, but, I'm not a consultant.

Brian Jojade:
Well, you don't WANT to do that, but if some numbnutz ties 240 into an XLR line, you can rest easy knowing you DI can handle it.

Helge A Bentsen:
Well, it's "only" 7500W/8 ohm. Maybe someone is using it to record the output of a Powersoft X4L? :P

But what is it at the 10k-100k the DI actually loads the amp with?

John Roberts {JR}:
dBu is a voltage relative to 0.7746 Vac.  +50dBu is like mains voltage in Europe, or UK, or Oz....
