Crown CDI 2000 Output levels not matching input levels
« on: August 28, 2021, 07:58:50 PM »

Hi there!

I noticed that subwoofer 1 driver was not moving as far as sub 2 driver. Switched each channels ouptput around and noticed that now sub 2 was not moving as far. Switched the inputs at amp and there was no difference. The input level knobs at front of the amp were both at same level. Checked all settings in Audio Architect in the DSP, levels, crossovers and eq, and they were all the same for both channels.
Yet as you can see in the pic CH2 output levels are about 15db lower!

Pulling my hair out!

Any idea what I may be missing? Bad amp?

Check or bypass all DSP. There might be a big chunk of EQ that's throwing things out. There's also the limiters.

Besides what Chris suggested… that era of Crown amp is known for having channels fail by having a random loss of gain. Sometimes it fixes itself when the amp warms up, sometimes not.  I have seen it time and time again.  I would plan for repair or replacement.

Check and double check that every DSP menu setting is the same for each channel.

Maybe post the scene file so someone here could take a look at it.

Thanks Chris! I just double checked all the DSP and same result.

Y'all didn't look carefully at the screen capture.  There is NOTHING wrong with the amp.

Jose, you're using "BRIDGE MODE", where the signal is on the POSITIVE + terminals of the Left and Right channels.  You cannot plug the subs into the Speak-on connectors and use normal wiring.  I strongly suggest you consult the operator manual for your amp.

Jose, Tim is usually correct when pointing out things like this but the "bridge" symbol shows as the OUTPUT MODE icon no matter what mode is selected.
The CDi series would be showing a single channel if set to Bridge mode.
This is a two channel amp set to a two channel mode.

I can't engage or disengage the bridged mode button, nothing happens when I click on it.

At the time you took the screen shot the amp display window indicates
it is offline.

Guess I should have loaded the amp profile in Audio Architect and took a look...

At this point, without having the amp in front of me, I'm not sure where to point.  A call to Crown would be in order.
