Name this plug?
« on: August 20, 2021, 07:59:28 PM »

Is there a name for this AC plug type. I'm trying to find a replacement cable for an old 8mm projector.

Look up 'Figure 8" power cord.

Here's one, the pin diameter looks smaller though.

I think that might be the connector we used to use on shavers here, might be better asking over on the vintage radio forums, www.vintage-radio.net

Ralph?

I remember a plug like that on some audio gear.
By early 80's they were history.
The pre-amp for my Acoustic Quad II, and Yamaha TC-800D cassette decks had them.

If it were me, I'd open it up, and replace the socket with an IEC model.
Worst case, install a short IEC male pigtail hanging out the socket hole.
Chris.

Ya, Whatever. Just throw a '57 on it, and get off my stage.

I think it's an IEC C1 (outlet, bottom) and C2 (inlet, top).

C1 looks like what it is......

I remember having an electric adding machine/mechanical calculator that used that style
power connector, I ended up tearing it apart to see how it worked!

Not sure if there were the 'standards' back in the day like there are now.  The old Bell & howell cables seemed to be popular, but nothing around today seems to match them.

If you are just trying to revive the projector and don't care about keeping it perfectly stock, replace the jack with something current and call it a day.

Wollensak reel to reel plug.lol......or at least that's what mine is.

I made one took two yellow crimp style butt connectors. Pulled the yellow jackets off crimped the metal part on the wire ends( soldered um cause I'm anal like that)and heat shrunk um.
Think I might a had to expand the ends a hair with a screw driver to fit the pins but it works
