High power amplifier recommendations (Powersoft)
« on: August 02, 2021, 05:59:23 PM »

I'm needing an amplifier with DSP with a rating of 2K-2400 watts per channel continuous at 4 ohms.  I need a two channel amp.  The Powersoft Duecanali 4804 DSP+D is a great fit but I'm researching to see what else is comparable.

The speakers I need to push are rated at 1200 continuous  4800 peak.

Thanks for your help

Thanks Doug.  I looked at Linea.  I didn't see any two channel amps.  I guess I could bridge two channels and turn a 4 channel amp into a 2.  The XiB4 claims that it can be bridged.  I'm not very familiar with Linea.  I'll have to research them more.

They're legit. Some ex-BSS people there I think.  Danley is using Linea for their OEM amp manufacturer.

The Powersoft T602 is similar to the Duecanali 4804 as fas as audio performance.
The 602 is a touring amp, it has XLR and Speakon connectors on the back and it has front panel display and controls.

The Canali series are aimed at installations, it has Phoenix connectors and doesn't have the front panel display. Both amps have the exact same DSP module.

It looks like Powersoft's K series is no longer in their current product lineup, but you can usually find used examples pretty easily.  The K2 or K3 amps would meet your power output needs.  The K series has optional DSP & Ethernet cards, so if you decide to shop for some used amps, you want to look for amps that say they are DSP + AESOP.  It's a real PITA to program the DSP modules for the K series if you can't connect the amp to Armonia via Ethernet (AESOP).  One thing that I like about the K2 & K3 is that they are only about 15" deep, so you can rack them up quite easily.

LeVan, I see you are in NC closer to Winston Salem but if you wanted to make the trip over to me in Raleigh NC, you could check out my T-602 amps. I got mine from Mike Pyle.

The Amps are, the DSP in the amps is not.

The DSP is great, very powerful, wonderful sound quality ... the software hmmm, but there is new software coming, and I'm told its much better :-)

So I've been told as well. I first saw an alpha version of the "new" software in February 2020. It did indeed look better. I'm still waiting to see a beta copy FWIW.

Another vote for the T-series amps. T602 sounds perfect here.

The T904 might also be worth a look, if you want more channels:

Agreed!

Also, agreed.

Software aside, I do wish Linea Research had a greater presence in the U.S..

Thanks for the offer Debbie.  Thanks for the info on Mike Pyle also.  I contacted Mike and ordered a PS Duecanali 4804 from him.
