Newbie to DMX technology - Optima Matrix 300 question
« on: July 31, 2021, 01:54:47 PM »

After a 20 year break in being a live musician, I've joined a band and my how the technology has changed! This equipment is smaller, wireless, and lighter. Lighting is no longer 56/64 cans but LED. My band just bought two light trees with LED lights and a DMX controller and I am slowing learning this.

We also have two older Optima Matrix 300 motorized head lights. I cannot find a manual online anywhere because the company is out of business. They do work because I hooked them up to the DMX controller and was able to see different features work, but programming them to work with my controller is beyond my experience level. If any of you have a copy of this manual or any advice to offer, I appreciate it.

Hi Gary, welcome to PSW.  I think I remember seeing this fixture in a catalog once, but it's definitely an oddball with very little documentation.  As luck would have it my console actually has this in its fixture library.  I'll export several screenshots in subsequent posts which should tell you everything you need to know to program the light.  Which controller are you using?  The screenshots I'm about to share come from ETC's Cobalt server, but the attributes themselves will apply to any other controller.  Hope this helps and let me know if you have any questions about how to use this information!
