dB Tech Ingenia IG1T or 2T -anyone heard them?
« on: July 30, 2021, 01:27:55 PM »

I'm considering these -likely the dual 6 1/2" 1T for vocal and acoustic instrument reinforcement.
[add here bass would have his own amp]
https://www.dbtechnologies.com/en/products/ingenia/ingenia-ig1t/
Optionally perhaps the 2T which bumps them up to dual 8".
I'm trying out a Tourbosound iP300 which are pretty fair but for some slightly odd mid response. Unfortunately I have no way to audition the dB Techs.

Thanks
Wayne

Wayne;

I have IG4T's and IG2T's. The IG1T and IG2T have the same SPL or peak output but the IG2T of course has more low end. For the price difference I'd look more at the IG2T's for their lower frequency output if you don't every plan/need subs to do different styles of music. I've used IG2T's under subs with very good results for the 150 and under bar band classic rock/country that had plenty of kick and loud bass guitar. If you have a single 15 inch sub to go with a pair of IG1T's you'd have a good system as well.  What have you been using before for speakers?

Thank you Douglas. Our amplified acoustic band gigs so far have have been 'music in the park with a pair of 12" two way EV ZX-3 and Danley mini sub, QSC k10.2 for monitor.
Hoping to get some feel for if the dB Techs might be a worthwhile step up from this ip300. Pretty tough though w/o direct comparison.

If you can stretch to the IG3s they are the sweet spot in that family IMO, we've got 4 and regularly let them out on dry hire for exactly the use you described. We use  db tech DVA 1518 subs with them when required but that's because we had those already, there are several other subs in the DB tech range that'll work.

The IG2T will be quite a step up from the Ip300. I did a wedding for a friend this weekend. 1 sub with 2 IG2T's. 150 people around. Pretty easy to do overall. The sub was under the deck. Dance surface was on the over side of the deck rail. 1 speaker was turned to the right for the ceremony walk in/out music.

In this video I had 1 sub and 2 IG4T's. I wasn't even close to the IG4T's limit. Should the band do this next year I'll just bring the IG2T's and know I can do the same job. There were no amps just the guitar's / keyboard plugged into low cost DI boxes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AP9MNN9_hB4

How/what would you compare the IG3s too?  I am interested, can these replace a SRX812P in-terms of volume.

The IG4T and IG3T are rated at the same peak output. 132dbs which is a very solid rating.  In this thread I compared Yorkville EF500p's to Db IG4T's. The IG4T's came out better overall. The Ef500p is a solid woofer / horn box that has a 15 inch woofer with a 4 inch voice coil compared to the 4 - 6 1/2 inch woofers in the IG4T's. Both the Yorkville and IG4T's have a 3 inch voice coil horn driver. I've had my EF500p's out once after I started using the IG4T's. ( few weeks ago when heavy rain was in the forecast ) I see no reason the IG3T's wouldn't fair the same or better depending on usage. As I go out with subs I felt for me I had no need for anything below what the IG4T's can do. I didn't want to lug what I didn't need too in my somewhat older age.

Some more listening (in room w/ music -I'll get to try it outside w/ real inst this week) ..and reading, led me to more questions.
With regard to the top end- I like the wide dispersion but it does have an 'interesting' trait in it's width.
First, would not drivers combined like these have to have combing interference in it's response?

Then there is Klark Teknik "spatial sound technology" employed, but WTF is that? I can find no answerer to be found. But 'reads suspiciously similar to the slice and dice' SRS 'Wow.

Both the above leads to; Can this compete fidelity wise with a competent single driver and wave guide -as in dB Tech's?

I know it's a terrible video as far as quality but here is 2 IG4T's with 1 IG2T as side fill with 2 18 inch subs. No idea why it posted sideways either. As the rain cleared out there ended up with more than 300 at the location. I didn't have to push hard. Not a clip light all night. IG3T's should easily do the same with subs.

Waxing rhapsodically of 10 years ago when running QRx-212/75s, I would now overlay this onto today.  A pair of 1g4ts 1g3ts would most certainly be my next purchase.  They can easily be deployed as L/R or as one tall mutha.  I don't see any competition for this level of flexibility and performance.

Business-wise, I won't be returning to "Back in the Goodle Days" (John Hartford) and will continue with my DXR12s.
