Okay, this is a little embarrassing, but somewhere along the way I missed the fact that "Clair Brothers" and "Clair Global" were separate companies (although it sounds like they're slowly merging back together now), and when you said "it's a Clair rig" my first thought was "wait, I don't see any bowties". :P

If memory serves, The Rolling Stones don't use subs either - I remember listening to their FOH engineer on a podcast and he said he doesn't travel with them.

An article I read on the Stones' Clair rig during their South American tour both stated they "didn't use subs" but then said they flew these:
