Isla Mujeres any experiences playing there?
« on: June 21, 2021, 11:32:57 PM »

Have some friends here in Houston that have been offered a gig there, but I have no idea if there are sound and/or backline companies there. Any experiences or knowledge here? Thanks.

It's right off the Coast of the Yucatan, right next to Cancun. I'm sure there are some sort of production providers that float gear out to the island at least occasionally.

If you friends need some help, let them know I'm available. I did study Spanish for four years in high school and two years in college. Plus I worked in Monterrey in December 2019.

I uhh...might need to go down a few days err week or two early to, you know...get acclimated to the climate and culture.  8)

I've been to Isla a couple of times (we have a place down the mainland coast, in Akumal). Some Cruise Lines stop there, so there might be fixed installations available.  Otherwise, as noted, gear would need to come out of Cancun.

Cancun hosts (or used to host) major festivals several times per year (not to mention insane Spring Break activities). Seems like the Promoter would be a better source of local providers?

Thanks, everyone. This is a private gig, no promoter, but I will tell the band to look for a provider in Cancun. Thanks again.
