If I had to do this - I'd find one electrician, work with them, make sure they really understand what to test for, and pay to have them on site in advance.  Doable yes, cheap and fast no.

Ok, so how do you find and vet said electrican? Bob and others have explained that even seasoned electricians may not know how to do this properly.
I can imagine an electrican, when questioned, might say "I've been doing this for years, I know what I'm doing..."

What are the questions to ask and the right answers to know if you're dealing with an electrican or company that "gets it"?

Practical experience with a particular company or tradesman?
Great if local, but not so much fun on the road.
You've been around the block enough to know there are too many possibilities, to many variations, and too many ways to get it wrong.

This sounds to me like the type of thing that should convince one to NOT choose electrical as a career path.

Huh, I didn't know that.
Pretty good reason for someone to choose a "different path" when a simple mistake will destroy equipment and / or kill people.
