intelligent light rigging
« on: April 18, 2011, 05:03:00 PM »

I'm trying to hang some Chauvet Qspot 260 led movers from my global truss (12" square trussing). The Chauvets come with brackets that attach to the bottom of the light and then you attach your clamps to that. The trouble I'm running into is there are two points to attach the clamps ( i'm using the global "O" clamps) the points on the fixture don't exactly match up to the 12" truss width so I can only get one clamp on. Is there another plate I can mount to the fixture to accomplish getting my clamps in the right place?  :(

Instead of trying to hang the fixture on the two chords that are parallel to each other, why don't you just  put both clamps side by side on the same chord? Yes, the full load of the one fixture will be on one chord, but you can balance it out by alternating fixtures, this is standard practice.

Haha!  No worries, we all learn things at least once.  Now, if you wanted to hang your fixtures from the middle of the truss then you could use a pair of cheesboros to mount a pipe through the truss and clamp the fixtures to the pipe.
