Soundcraft UI24R L/R masters
« on: May 10, 2021, 09:49:31 AM »

Hi Folks,

A friend asked me how the Soundcraft UI24R master level works, with
physical L/R master knobs on the front and a L/R master fader in the control app.
Can somebody please clarify?

Thanks and good health,  Weogo

It's been a while since I used it.
The knobs on the UI are analog, so they aren't being controlled by the ap.
I always saw them as an emergency volume control for if the app goes down, which it will, if you use the internal WAP.
I usually turn them all the way up to have full range control at the Ipad.

+1.  Dave is correct.  And I do exactly the same.

I generally run mine at about 2 as that seemed to provide adequate gain without pushing the board err, box ?  If I needed more, I could always pay a visit and turn it up.  Never needed to.

I usually turn them all the way up to have full range control at the Ipad.
And, most importantly, if the mixer is accessible, it removes the risk of someone else inadvertantly/deliberately turning the level up.

also note there is a headphone level that works the same way. And finally, you can patch any bus to any output (headphone, main, aux, etc), or even patch the same signal to multiple outputs (wanna check the monitor mix? just patch it to your headphone out).

Regarding the WiFi going down - you can control the unit via a direct connection or via cat5/6 wired ethernet. Be it on stage or FOH, I always have a wired ethernet connection to my unit in case I loose WiFi.

I generally run mine at about 2 ...

A close look will reveal a slightly larger tick mark at the 2:00 position, which is unity gain for the final output stage.  That's where I run my Ui24R's.
