Sennheiser EW300 (EK300) pack not powering on.
« on: April 25, 2021, 11:50:20 AM »

I am bummed..... last night one of my Sennheiser EK300 packs simply wouldn't power up at all. I tried 3 different battery sets to be sure....
2-3 days before the upcoming show, I always install fresh batteries as I did this week, and I also always check to make sure the units power up and show full battery each time. This unit was fine on wednesday but last night failed. It simply went from my house to the drawer in the rack in which it is stored - then to the show.
No moisture or anything that could have a negative effect on its performance has been involved and I 'baby' my iem packs making sure the players remove during breaks and place back in the drawer so they are very well looked after.
Any ideas on how much Sennheiser would charge me to send off to be fixed? :-\

The 2 most likely suspects - battery terminal connection to PC board or a bad switch.  The other possibilities are beyond my troubleshooting.

Sennheiser USA is open on Monday.  Call and ask for Robb Blumenredder.

Thanks Tim... I'll do just that!

Does the power button feel like it is depressing and poping back up?

It's been a few years ago, but when I uses the Sennheiser on line repair service portal
it was easy to fill out and get the return shipping info.

It's a knob Mike - not a button. It turns and feels the same as before.

Just a thought..... I have owned and used this pack for around 7 years or so... could it be as simple as an internal battery that possibly needs replacing?

You could ask Senn that question, but I have a Senn wireless Mic that is about 17 yrs old, that powers up no problem.
(of course, I can't really read the LCD screen any more, but the Mic works fine)

It's going out tomorrow - $176 plus $19 for shipping, sig and POD. I worked out it is 7 years old but in brand new condition (other than the fact it doesn't work of course - LOL).... I told the guy at Sennheiser it was in excellent condition and he was shocked. He said most of the packs they get in for repair - even those only 6 months old - are usually trashed!
