Driverack PA2 - mixing passive tops and active sub

Doing a small set up at a friends bar using all the equipment on hand

4 Yorkville 2-way 10" passive 8ohm tops
1 QSC KS112
1 Yamaha EMX-312SC PA head
1 Yamaha MG10XU 10-channel Mixer
Driverack PA2

I've decided to put my new driverack PA2 inline for the limiter and crossover. A little confused how to go about it when mixing the passive tops and active sub.

How do I go about getting the most out of this set up?

I haven't mixed powered and passive much before, anything I should look for?

This will be used by multiply people a week mostly who have little to no experience. I would like to use the driverack as a way to keep the novice users from blowing the speakers out and keeping the EQ steady.

Any tips or things to look out for would be much appreciated!

First thing you should/need to get a real power amp and not try to use the powered mixer.

Setting a crossover frequency around a 100hz will get you going, lows to the sub, highs to the power amp for the Yorkville tops.

Great info thanks!

Any recommendations on affordable amp for a set up this size?

What model are the Yorkville speakers.. YX10?

If you're buying an amp you might consider something with DSP built-in like the Yamaha PX3, the sub has everything it needs built-in so it's really just the tops you have to process and protect.

I'm using the older Yorkville model, the NX20 350w

I was wrong previously they are in fact 12"

I borrowed a friends PX500 to try out for the week might order one asap. They sound lovely.

Right now I've got the Yamaha mixer outs going to the QSC sub then out sub pass through to the amp. Not sure if this is the right way to do it. I've got the crossover set on the QSC to 100.

Currently only using 2 of the NX20's. Not sure how to mount the additional 2 in the room just yet.
