Ever notice the stores selling cheap tools never actually use them themselves? Or that they don't actually sell the products they themselves use?

I'll bet you a KitKat that you won't find that hand truck schlepping stuff from the back of the store to the front.

You guys never disappoint!
It was more a rhetorical question. I'm a believer of BOCO and Good tools are expensive, but Cheap tools are damned expensive! She just doesn't always see it in audio equipment/tools. Had a similar "discussion" when 200 feet of 12/3 SO showed up recently. UPS wasn't too happy that day either.  Shh! Don't tell her about the Smaart license.  :-X
C'est la vie!

It's the other way round in this house, she who should be obeyed just splashed out on a synth emulation of a cs80, when asked why when she's got a real one her reply was "you're too old to move it now"  >:( >:(

From Red Adair (about fighting oil rig fires):

"If You Think It’s Expensive To Hire A Professional To Do The Job, Wait Until You Hire An Amateur.”

I feel the same about buying the right tools.

So how do you explain the concept of "Buy Once, Cry Once" to your significant other; when "You can get the same thing at Walmart for $50?"

That also applies to a wife. Just sayin'...

Amen that!

Also, I once saw Red interviewed after extinguishing an oil-tank fire and the reported asked how much services like his cost the city. He grinned a bit sheepishly and said “Well I don’t want to discuss specific numbers but rest assured we always want to leave our clients happy —- if not necessarily thrilled”.

I'm pretty lucky I guess?!?!?!? My wife is a firm believer in the concept of buying the best you can at ALL COSTS. She just doesn't seem to understand that if you apply that concept to everything you buy, you are always broke.....

My philosophy on this has always been that if life or the means of living (job) depend on any given purchase working correctly - don't cut corners.  I'll gladly buy a budget tool at bottom of the Harbor Freight for that once-off project around my shop or property, but when life safety and professional reputation/income matter I'll gladly spend the extra money to ensure the protection of both.
