Putting together a sound system on a budget...
« on: April 08, 2011, 11:35:49 AM »

So I am trying to put together a sound system for DJing and live sound events.
Here is what I am looking into getting:
-Peavey PR15(4)
-Peavey 118(2)
-Behringer EPQ2000(2)
I already have a mixer, power conditioner, crossover, and sonic maximizer.

I will be using for 100-400 people 3-4 times a month.

Thanks for your input. :)

This is going to get locked very quickly unless you change your user name to your real name.

Beyond that, what kind of input are you hoping to get?  What genres of music and what type of audiences do you work with?  Are you looking to get any certain levels of performance or result?  Any goals in terms of size, weight, transportability, etc.?  Are the events indoors, outdoors or both?  What is your experience with live sound and systems like this?  What mixer, power conditioner and crossover do you have (and yes, I intentionally left out the Sonic Maximizer, as you probably should also)?  What about mics, mic stands, system processing, monitors, etc. that are typically related to live sound applications?  What about power distribution, rack(s) cables and so on?  What is your budget?

I have used Pr15s in the past and was satisfied with the sound.  I also have used 118 in the past and was satisfied with its performance and I think for the size of crowds it will be enough.  I am a one man show so portability and ease of transport plays a big factor in all this.  All events will be indoor. Behringer XENYX X1204USB for everyday and I have a 22 channel behringer mixer for when I need to do band or singers...
Furman M8LX.  I will add monitors when I need them.  I have cables, mics, stands, and racks.
I will say that I am inexperienced on system processing.

Dinesh,

Where are you located? Even with Peavey, not every product is available everywhere.
