Midas M32 - Main Output Question (Output 15/16)
« on: February 09, 2021, 05:59:45 am »

Hi, we have a question on our main Output of our Midas M32.

Current setup on our Midas M32:
Output 15 -> to the amplifier
Output 16 -> to translation booth

Settings on
Routing > Out > Output 15 > Main LRC > Main L (connected to the amplifier, which connects to all speakers in church)
Routing > Out > Output 16 > Main LRC > Main R

We use the "Main" fader to control the sound in church (via the amplifier).

Problem: we currently only have the "Left" sound in church. So if we play an audio clip, we only here the left side of the recording.

How can we send both L and R in Output 15, and both L and R in Output 16?

We would like to keep using the "Main" fader to control the volume in church.

I know that it probably makes more sense to put Output 15 and 16 to the amplifier, but for a number of reasons that's not possible on the short term. That's why we are looking for a solution to send both L and R via Output 15.

Thanks for any help.

Set the balance controls on the clip playback channels to centre and you will get both L and R playback on both 15 and 16 outputs.
That console has a lot of features that would allow you to create a much better setup for what you are doing.

If I am interpreting properly what you needs are I would suggest that you send the L/R feed to Matrix 1 and 2 and use those to send to you 2 different areas. Then you can still control it with your L/R master and just set the matrix level to how you want it for each area. And then the Matrix masters dont need to be touched. You and route the Matrix 1 to XLR 15 output and Matrix 2 to XLR 16 output.

Since you're not running in Stereo, wouldn't it make sense to sum the outputs of your playback device to Mono? There are DI boxes that will do that and can provide ground isolation (which can be an issue at times).

Sorry where exactly do I do this?
Thanks for your tip!
