FALLS CHURCH, VA — Earlier today, we heard the sad news that veteran engineer, author, blogger and pillar of the audio industry, Mike Rivers, passed away after dealing with health issues for some time. He was 78.

A cool story.

We lost the drummer to a band I work with regularly a few months ago. It was very said because we've all know each other for decades and are like family. They were trying to decide whether to continue or not. We auditioned a few drummers but none of them worked out. Very disappointing.

Later on the drummers 16 year old son said he wanted to audition. Out of curtesy for his dad they said OK.

He is now the new drummer!! Plays his dad's same drum kit. And he is good. We knew he played multiple instruments, but had no idea he was that good.

We had to check with all the venues to see if they wouldn't mind an underage person in the band. They all said no problem. Mom drives him to the gigs. LOL

Now he's a rock star at school.  I think we created a monster

Sean Connery

My favourite 007 and Man Who Would be King.

The best 007 of them all.

Sadly, Stephen Sondheim has passed away at 91. A great loss to the theater community as well as the world.

Just noticed today that John Goodsall (aka John Mandala) died on November 11th. His list of musical liaisons and achievements  would take up half a page  but he is probably best known here for his work with Brand X. I was lucky enough to work with him in the early 70s when he was playing with Atomic Rooster in the UK but bumped into him several times afterward when he was performing with BrandX . A real gentleman who I know later became disenchanted with the business part of the music industry. Great guitarist and all round nice guy. RIP.

Sad news. Atomic Rooster was very cool. And he was a great guitarist. Assortment and Home to Roost were two of my first heavy albums (real vinyl).
