Margie Belrose.  A local (north SF bay area) legend in dance and theater.  For decades, she owned and ran a small theater ( The Belrose ) and open mic (mostly show tunes) and costume shop.

Celebrity of sorts...

Colin Powell, retired general, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Secretary of State.  I went to high school with his son, who became the Chairman of the FCC under G.W. Bush.

Paddy Moloney, The Chieftains' piper, at 83, in Dublin, cause not in the article I saw. "The playful but disciplined front man of The Chieftains", Monday October 11.

Obit in The Guardian with pics and videos

I got to work with them a bunch of times in the late '70's/'80's when they came to Seattle, and they were always tremendous. For several tours they had this really good kid as their Irish dancer, Michael Flatley, who seemed like a nice guy, who went on to bigger things ("Riverdance" etc.).

For some reason, for a few years, they were in Seattle on St. Patrick's Day, which I couldn't understand because it seemed like there would be bigger gigs somewhere else for them that day, but they were here.

They were a fun-lovin' bunch of guys.

Jazz Guitarist Pat Martino

oh dang.  Pat was amazing. IIRC he had to teach himself to play again after a stroke quite a while back. while he had dexterity before and could play blazingly fast, it was his sense of melody I loved.  He always kinda the anti-(young) Coryell. I loved Larry too don't get me wrong.
