Dante Virtual Soundcard and Controlling Levels
« on: January 13, 2021, 03:36:30 pm »

We have a Dante Amplifier, a Dante Mic input point, and a Laptop with Dante Virtual Soundcard installed.

We basically use Dante routing to switch between the mic input point and the laptop.

Everything works fine, however the audio output from the laptop with DVS, is far too Hot. Fortunately windows machines can control the volume, (which has to be down at volume 5 out of 100), but I seem to recall on Macs that the volume control is disabled on DVS.

Is there a way to reduce the level of the Dante Soundcard somehow? Much like there is a gain control on the AVIO boxes?

You might be better off with Dante Via instead of DVS. Via allows you to route apps on the PC as if they were an input from anything else. Then the volume of that app would control the output. So you would use the volum bar on itunes, if itunes is one of your sources.

Bullwinkle: This is the amplifier, which amplifies the sound. This is the Preamplifier which, of course, amplifies the pree's.
