Midas DL32 AES50 patching
« on: December 17, 2020, 04:26:27 PM »

Is there a way to patch AES50 between a Midas DL32 and another AES50 device without using a console?

I'm looking at connecting a DL32 to a Klark Teknik DN9650 with a Dante card and get the audio out on Dante from the DL32.

The dl32/s32 must be clocked from the dn9650 since unlike the dl16/s16 it can’t generate a master clock. I also have a vague memory of that each aes port on the 9650 only supports 24 channels, even in 48k mode, but don’t quote me on that.

Your biggest problem would be being able to control the preamps. The dl16/s16 have preamp control on the front, but the dl32/s32 don’t.

Preams is ok, it's for a line in scenario so I can set and forget the preamps.
But my understanding is that I need a console on the network to act as AES50 router. It would be a simpler setup if I could plug the DL32 directly into the DN9650.
