What's the deal with the ls800p? local guy just told he has that one and said

"Same 18” inch woofer just alittle different amplifier and mines urethane not carpet"

My research is showing the amp is 500 watts less.

The 800p is the first generation, I'm not sure of all the differences but they are small so for all practical purposes these boxes would be interchangable. And you can ignore the apparent power difference, that is just marketing.

I completely misread your post a few answers above and did an edit on it.  I had a set of the LS800p's for 6-8 years. I found them very close to if not the same as the LS801pb's only judging from memory.  I had a point where I wanted to get out of the sound business and sold them with 1 pair of the Ef500p 4 tops I had. Same tough as nails design. I know the person who has them is still working them today. If he offered them back to me I'd purchase them to use with my LS801's without a worry.

Thanks but if I were to get the 800 instead of the 801 even if they should be the exact same in sound and power the mind over matter thing will haunt me :)
