Or the old 9:30 club when it was behind the Ford Theater...
Just throw some load out pizza down the alley so the rats have something to do while you load out the other way.
Let the good times roll.

That alley is the only place I've been where I had a rat amble by in broad daylight and just turn to look at me with the best "watta Yahs think Yoo's lookin' at" expression I have ever seen. Just stopped and stared me down. I was like "yessir, your alley sir, sorry I looked at you it won't happen again sir" and quickly averted my gaze.

This is also where I learned that R.O.U.Ses really DO exist

Not the worst thing to have go by in that alley. At least the rats aren't drunk and trying to help you load in.

And the time at the outdoor show with the poor soul promoter standing there in the pouring, and I do mean pouring rain with lighting hitting in the forest behind the not so great soaking wet wooden stage with leaking cheap tents wishing it will get sunny and yes the people will come out.
The band had their speakers up in plastic. I ran the amps and mixer from inside the Subaru. Wireless mics (in plastic bags (lol) and them under a tarp with the guitars wireless.  They did get two songs played so we did get paid. A brave bunch of guys they were. No one showed up.

“Worst loadin/loadout” is a fertile topic.

It could be loaded with just about every hotel ballroom gig.  Greasy floors, etc.
The "Just follow the smell of rotten milk back to the dumpster" comment reminds me of the only load-out I actually got sick and couldn't keep it down from the stink of the trash compactor.
Omni Hotel downtown LA, late 90's.
Trickle of liquid nastiness from the trash compactor-dumpster in the loading dock that ran downhill across the dock and into the sump under the freight elevator.  All your case wheels tracked through it and the heat and smell of it in the elevator resulted in me adding to it.
Also didn't help that the truck was on a wicked slope that unattended cases would roll out and tip into that gutter and act like a dam.
-Unattended because we were just 2 guys with an 8-box 850 rig with 3K & 840 and there was a very long push through kitchens on the ballroom level.

We were also just 2 guys because the rest of the crew called in sick probably knowing full well what the load-in/out entailed!

So I guess now in retrospect there are worse things than I experienced in the alleys behind clubs in Toronto

The smell was horrible but I also hated the sticky shoes and the noise they made. The stink would follow you for a while.

It was very nice when they banned cigarette smoking inside. Nice only to smell like sweat after a show and not like a Lucky Strike.

More than once I left the truck in the driveway after a Thurs-Fri-Sat bar gig.
More than once I almost lost it once the truck was in the sun for a few hours, and i returned the system to the shop.
Beer and smokes. Sure didn't smell that bad in the club at 3AM...
Here's the thing, I had no rat fur. Everything was wood or metal. That stink just got everywhere.
So glad shortly after no smoking law was passed my business changed also. No more clubs.
Bigger bands, Convention centers, Arenas, outdoor shows, a lot of Weddings, and a few Corpy's.
Haven't even been in a bar (other than service calls and installs) in better than 30 years now...

Let's hear about the fight between you and lead singer.
Let's just say that I actually do have video from someone in the audience, that was presented to my lawyer in the case.

The "most famous" line from someone in the audience is "He's stomping on his head".  I was the one standing.

This was right after the rest of the band was holding the lead singer while he was trying to swing at me, but he got loose and then down he went.

It was a multistage festival that I was providing for all stages, and this stage had a power issue (damn electrician did not tighten down the neutral wire) and my system was almost totally destroyed.  My tech was barely limping along (after we replaced the console and FOH gear) when I decided to shut the stage down, and the lead singer didn't like it and came at me and I lost it.

I haven't looked at the video in years, but still have it.  I doubt I have a VCR that can play it though.  Probably need to get it copied before it is to late.  Or maybe not------------------------

It only cost me around $10,000

You mentioned the loose neutral before.  I don't think you ever mentioned the fight.  Did the promoter get your gear fixed?  Did you get paid?
