Eighth Day Sound and Clair join
« on: August 21, 2020, 08:40:14 am »

I wonder if other companies will do the same in these difficult and changing times?

Pretty sure that deal was under construction before March...

Press release says deal had been finalized before pandemic and was originally scheduled to close in April.  I am in awe of how deep Clair's pockets must be in order to make such a major acquisition during the present financial climate.  I find this staggering.

Indeed.  I was hoping Clair would lower pricing on some of their used gear, considering the economic climate.  But, that has not happened (at least, not publicly).

The acquisition pretty much sews up all "Top 10" positions, once National Touring resumes.

Eighth Day also has a used equipment section on their site.

I've gotten some used equipment from them both in person and on line.
For that matter same from Clair as well.

Thanks, but Lititz is closer than Cleveland and I'm already committed to certain Clair gear.  Their prices haven't budged for over a year, so I was merely agreeing with Steve that money must not be in short supply...

Long before I'd heard of The Brothers Clair, I associated Lititz, PA with the Oneida Steel Trap Company.

Clair is a well run company, so is 8th Day.  Clair has purchased other companies that had similar emphasis on customer service and innovative uses of technology - M-D, ShowCo, DB - and in that regard adding 8th Day as a wholly-owner subsidiary is the most unique part as the others were just swallowed up.

I look forward to EOL employment as a "greeter" for Clair.
